About Sattva Sanctuary ˚꩜。
In yogic philosophy, nature is understood through three fundamental qualities, or gunas: rajas, tamas, and sattva.
Rajas is movement, passion, desire, ambition, creativity, and transformation.
Tamas is stillness, heaviness, darkness, rest, sleep, and the quiet of going inward.
…and somewhere between movement and stillness, we find sattva.
Sattva is clarity, harmony, balance, presence, and integration. It is not the absence of momentum or stillness, but the ability to hold both…to recognize that life moves in rythyms of expansion and contraction, action and rest, light and shadow.
Sattva Sanctuary is a safe space for our rajas and tamas archetypes to find union.
About
Caroline
My path into this work has always lived at the intersection of the body, mind, and the deeper layers of our experience.
I’ve been an athlete for as long as I can remember. My relationship with my body has shaped so much of who I am, not only through movement, strength, and performance, but through injuries, limitations, and chronic health challenges I’ve experienced along the way. Learning to navigate unexpected challenges within my body taught me to look beyond performance and productivity, and to become curious about what my body might be communicating beneath the surface.
I hold a B.S. in Kinesiology - Exercise Science + Sport Psychology & Leadership and spent years working, teaching, and consulting in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery. I’m currently completing my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a focus on marriage, couples, family, and children. Alongside my academic training and experience, I’m a NASM certified personal trainer, 500-hr RYT, a certified trauma sensitive yoga facilitator, certified holistic health practitioner, and a certified reiki practitioner.
Over time, these paths have continued to weave together. My background in kinesiology, athletics, and healing has informed my awareness of what is required for training and performance, but also what happens when we override our body’s innate intelligence system. My work in counseling with survivors of trauma has reinforced my understanding of the human nervous system and how we can work with our body to heal, recover, restore, and reconnect with ourselves. Yoga and other body-based practices have shown me what can become possible physically, mentally, emotionally, and relationally when we learn to attune to our body’s sensations rather than override them.
Sattva Sanctuary is where all of these threads meet.
I created this space from the belief that healing and well-being are not one dimensional. We are physical, emotional, relational, energetic, and spiritual beings, and sometimes coming back to ourselves means making room for all of those parts.
The practices I offer are an extension of my ongoing curiosity, study, and passion for the healing capacity of the human body, mind, and soul. I don’t believe in one universal path to healing. I believe in creating space to explore, listen, and discover what brings you back into greater connection with yourself.
My intention is to facilitate, guide, and walk alongside others as they discover their own unique path toward sattva.
